I have had the most HORRIBLE experiences with doctors. I won't go into details, but I received a really bad injury during a surgery last year and do have a pending lawsuit. I do not feel this is any business of the new doctor in another state that I am going to see. Any one know anything about what questions can and cannot be asked by a new doctor and where I could obtain more information from? Thanks in advance for your answers!

I personally would question the competence of a doctor who has to ask about pending lawsuits. I don't know if it's legal or not, but I would consider that question out of line.

I know of no "law" that allows them access to this information. I suggest you keep quiet, doctors are a breed that sticks together--even if the other doctor is a quack. Even if they would ask on a new patient form, doesn't mean you have to disclose that information, it's none of their business. I'm happy that you took the doctor to task for what was done to you, good for you!

Sure, it's legal. A doctor is interviewing for the job and want's to know your history in order to assess how (or if) s/he can or can't treat you as a patient.
Imagine how you would feel interviewing for a job if you were kept from knowing anything about the company, except its name. Same difference.
