no, man-kind is too spoiled, needy and cunning.we probably wouldn't walk 2 blocks to the nearby park or store and just drive there.if teleportatation devices exist, we would probably abuse its power and cause chaos, such as kidnap and ransom or teleporting into someone's private property/robbery,etc and it would be more difficult to track down the footsteps of these criminals. some people might become stranded because they don't have access to a teleportation station. or more missing people cases due to people inadvertently pressing the wrong button and they're teleported to the bermuda triangle! however, i wouldn't mind teleporting to Figi for an afternoon, then coming back in a flash, to resume my normal day, and going to other beautiful places whenever i wanted to, without the hassle of airport security checkpoints & impatiently waiting for my luggage to appear on that rotating luggage thing lol

Probably never for man. That is unless you mean electric cars, which are still in the , maybe near, future.
There are beings that can travel unimaginable distances through space by thought. Imagine looking at the most distant thing you can see in space and, just by thinking "I am there", and instantaneously, you were there. And protected in a 'vehicle' also created by thought.
But man will never be capable of such travel. Human capable teleporters are only science fiction.

Currently Scientests are able to "Transfer" particles from point A to Point B Via a technology including dissipating the original and re-creating the elemental structure.

They are not able to transfer much things bigger. at all, due to the fact that it would be rather difficult (i hesitate to say impossible), to predict where elements are headed.. They are currently toying with a quantum mechanics throey called Entanglement.

Chances are, if it ever becomes possible, it will be both expensive to use, and will not be available to the public for a rather long time..

Would be nice though.

P.S. almost forgot to mention. it would not "teleport" anything.

They currently use a system that would obliterate the original in data transfer streams. and then recreate another thing of similarity at point B.

Kinda scary to think about if you're the one teleported.. being obliterated than re-created.

By controlling the very essence of Spacetime! We will be able to travel to any point in the known Universe instantly without need of any conventional devices! But that inertia is a killer! By using our minds!

It's been proposed that if we could bend space, then we could travel great distance without great speed.

As an example.

Measure the distance between opposite corners of a piece of paper, then fold it in half and measure the distance again.

Pretty simple concept if it wasn't for the being nearly impossible.

Physicist have theorized about transporters a la Star Trek, but it would require 8 earth-sized computers, and raise the body temperature to a million degrees Fahrenheit!

No. Maybe photons can be beamed, but they are only electromagnetic bursts of energy (light particles). The laws of Physics would have to be broken for individual atoms to be separated from their structure, "beamed" to a different location and be reconstructed without defect.

Like Star Trek had beaming, present day science has been able to beam photons from one point to another. This is proof of principle.

No. The amount of energy resulting during conversion of mass to power is so huge that transmitting it would be equivalent to a very large nuclear bomb.
