Well, I don't know what black lady pirate you are referring to.... there are actually 2.

In the first movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, the woman is Anamaria and she is played by Zoe Saldana.

In the second movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest, the voodoo piratey woman is Tia Dalma who is played by Naomi Harris.

Born in New Jersey, Zoe Saldana was raised in Queens, New York before leaving the States to attend the Ritmos Espacio de Danza Academy in the Dominican Republic. Saldana studied ballet, jazz, modern and Latin dance, and at the age of 17 returned to the US and joined a theatre group called Faces Theatre Company.

A role in the "Law & Order" TV series in 1999 caught the attention of Hollywood. Zoe Saldana followed up that part with her feature film debut in the dramatic film, "Center Stage," directed by Nicholas Hytner and co-starring Peter Gallagher. Saldana portrayed a gifted dancer with attitude in the film which was released in 2000.
