The better question is how many times have you asked this....
Well Melo is strong and fast much like lebron they are just pure scorers born with that ability to get to the rim. For open jumpers they arent that hard to get, pick and roll drive and kick getting the open shot is not hard.

Well first look who is on his team. Allen Iverson is still on of the best players in the game, So Iverson alone gets him more open looks. The main thing is his size. He is huge for a SF and is prolly the strongest SF in the league. Off the dribble his size could get him around defenders also he has a very good first step.

He studies his opponents and watches tapes on how they will play him. He is also a pure scorer, he can post you up or take you off the dribble. If you gaurd him to close he will just dribble past you and if you are to far he will just shoot the easy jumper. He is one of those players that are just special and people just don't know how he is that good. The scary thing is that he can get alot better since he is so young.

If you have speed, can drive with a quick first step, and can hit from the outside, you create alot of problems for the defense and become almost impossible to guard with single coverage. That's what Carmelo Anthony brings to the table.

He useses the jab step. When he jabs and they come at him he goes around to the hoop. When they retreat he shoots. When they go to the basket but stay on him he goes towards the top of the key and then gets a good shot.

His speed allows him to get around players and his size lets him post guys up. Many times he will just rise up and shoot with a hand right in his face.
