Okay, so since...well, maybe about a year, I guess I've grown into depression. I'm trying counseling, but I just can't talk about my problems without crying. I'm really scared about what's going to happen to me. Like, my parents have started to notice and everything. Even my language arts teacher. How can I beat this? Any tips or anything?

Extra: I feel lonely, and sometimes I have days when I'm just really happy, then some little thing will just set me off. Other times, I just feel worthless and stuff. Sorry I couldn't organize this better, but I'm just so confused.

i'm actually going through a very similar thing right now except that i've been depressed for a very long time and just this year it had gotten to the point that i needed to seek help. i was not progressing very far with my counselor for the same reason as you but last session we tried communicating through writing. she would have a tablet of paper and write a question and i would write my answer. i was able to express myself a lot better than before. you may want to try this but each person is different and i can't guarantee that it will work for you. i hope that helps. i won't try to tell you that i think things will get better for you since you sought help because i know i wouldn't believe it if someone told me that but here is one last piece of advice: try to find something that takes your mind off things. for me, it is music and a good song can give my soul a nice little hug and help me forget about things. painting is also strangely calming (did you know there's something called art therapy?). good luck with your journey.

I, too, have felt this way. I would suggest to start with your family doctor. Sometimes medications are necessary to give us the boost we need. Depression is caused by chemical imbalances in the brain. Talk to your mom or dad about how you feel. They can help you decide what is best for you as an individual. The ultimate goal is for you to get better, and obviously you can not do that on your own. WIth a combination of meds and or counseling plus support from your family, i know you can feel better.

If you've tried counseling, why did you stop? A good counselor wouldn't care about tears so if you went to one (which I doubt) the only one to blame is yourself for being so silly as to worry about how you look or act. If you're feeling worthless, sad, down, and people notice the change, then return to counseling. Find some other counselor if you can't face that one. You're not going to get better on your own, anymore than curing yourself of diabetes by pretending you don't have it.

I think you should continue going to counceling. I go to a councelor and at 1st, all I could do is cry! But now, I can talk about things with out crying every time. And what's wrong with crying? It really helps me to be able to confide in someone and talk about my feelings. Last year, I was really depressed But after counceling, I am much better!

I say go to the councelor. And try telling yourself that you are wonderful, beautiful, smart, etc. The school councelor told me this, "Fake it till you make it." which means keep telling yourself all these good things about yourself until you truely believe them. (trust me, I know it works. I heard I was a horrible person all the time and I believed them. Now, I know that's not true!) :)

This is kind of scary but i feel the exact same way. I fould somebody htat i trust with my life and i let her help me. Sure i cry when i talk to her, but she just holds me in her alrms and tells me that every thing is going to be okay. She listens to me and she is there for me. You need to find that person, once you do you start to feel soo much better. As for those good days, live them and try not to let things bother you, just enjoy!

depression sucks, i am very sorry to hear that you are depressed. i was the same about 3 years ago. i am now 15 and things were goign very very bad in my life and in my family, and i relized one day that i dont have to feel like this anymore. and i started thinking positive and talking with the friends that i had, (which was like 2) and they helped me and i have found out that thinking positive and working towards goals helps a whole lot. good luck.

Yes, I bet you're confused.
I know this sounds corny, but I think you should get to know God.
I was like you at my old school, then I went to a Christian school and I don't feel worthless anymore. Thats because I know that God loves me and that I am very, very precious in His eyes. And that all that matters.
You can e-mail me for more info!! :)
God Bless.

You have taken the first step, by going to counseling which
is a good starting point. Expressing how you feel is okay.
Once you feel compatible with your sessions invite your
parents to come along with you.

You might try going to your regular doctor and getting a prescription antidepressant. Even if it doesn't completely cure you, it will at least get you in decent enough shape to benefit from counseling. Worked for me!
