I think most people think that the next decade above what they currently are is "old." I'm 34, and I kind of think 40 is old, but the closer I get to it the less old it seems. In any case, I think there's a a pretty well-established consensus that 60 is old. I base this on at least two things. First, since I'm mostly familiar with Judeo-Christian culture, I'm aware that for thousands of years, 60 has been considered old in Jewish culture. Secondly, even in modern American culture, 65 is typically retirement age, so even our own society has a well-established recognition that the 6th decade of one's life is old. Now in some small regions of the world, there is an unusually high proportion of the population which lives to be over a hundred, and I'm sure that such societies have a different concept of "old." But considering that in most of the world - at least where the population has adequate food, housing, and medical care - the typical life expectancy is sround 70 or 80, it would make sense that 60 would be considered old.

NONE, because we all will get to whatever age is designated as that age. Age is not a disease but something that is normal and everyone gets there at some point. How horrible to consider anyone an "old hag". If someone is grumpy in their old age it may be because of a tough life, pain, problems in their lives now, or many other reasons. Shame on you for even considering this idea!!!

An old hag could be any age. I'd be more likely to refer to someone as an old hag based on their personality rather than their age.

It depends on the person. The phrase should only be used in jest. But some people just get wrinkly fast I guess. I hope your not planning to call someone that! Don't say that to an older person, they may be offended, but feel free to joke around with an older sister with gray hair if you don't think she'll take it the wrong way.

When one merits the title. Very old and mean I guess. But, I'd never call someone that to there face. Remember these old ladies today are from a savvy more modern time. You might get punched. Or called something equally bad in return.

lol, whatever age the younger generation thinks is appropriate. personally, you arent a 'old hag' unless your 60-100 years old and act like a very very crabby old lady.

There is no right age to call any woman an old hag...it is rude and disrespectful.
