How can I become less shy around people, boys, or anyone?

I get really shy and end up just saying a few words. How can I be less shy, especially with people I just met? Or people in general?

At least you can get a few words in around guys I can't at all my heart just starts to flutter like crazy I don't have to like him either it just does...but the best way is to ask a question and and when they answer you you could get ready to respond but make sure you listen and respond and sometimes just talk to your friend and the guy are person will respond although you aen't talking to them...SMILE...

First off, that unless you're dealing with a total nut-job, the odds are pretty much in your favor that you will survive the encounter. Becoming extroverted (outgoing) is something that takes practice. Take public speaking and communications classes. That will literally get all the "shy" out of your system and quickly.

just try to remember that most people, when meeting new people, are just as shy too. they are feeling the same way as you. so don't take ur shyness to heart, and just go out there and show them that you're not like everyone else!

Read "How to win friends and influence people" by Carnegie. Is an easy read and full of excellent ways to improve your social skills.

Take a public speaking course. Once you get over this, any social situation will become easy.

Don't allow yourself to think defeating thoughts such as "I can't do ..." "I can't talk to ...."

I'm super shy too, so I'm no authority, but I've found that imagining conversations ahead of time and planning them out helps. Until you get beyond where you imagined and planned.
