My best friend is having her baby tomorrow, and I want to give her something special. I am sure she will be getting plenty of flowers and little stuffed animals for the baby, etc.

I am going to get something for the baby too, of course, but I was thinking about getting her a pair of blue topaz earrings -- each one will symbolize one of her boys (now that she is a mom of 2! :))

Is that a cool idea? Was there any special or unique gift you ever gave a friend who had a baby?

Thanks!

I think that's a wonderful gift.

I always give a new mother a copy of Robert Munsch's book "Love You Forever" and also Sam McBratney and Anita Jeram's "Guess How Much I Love You?" because they are sweet, charming, adorable books that make me sniffle and little kids love having them read aloud.

I think that is a wonderful idea, geting a gift for your friend is great, a woman gets so much special attention when she is pregnant but once the baby is born most of the attention is shifted to the baby and the mom is left out. By getting her a gift lets her know how special she is.

That is really sweet. There were two gifts that I loved that I received. Both were baby books, both different but they were hand made, which to me was the one of the best gifts. Any thing that shows time, effort and thought is a great gift. I think she will like it, plus its an added bonus, she can wear them and think about her child and you every time.

thats a great idea, so often the moms are forgotten in all the excitement of the new arrival. I always try to make my friends a relaxation basket, with candles, scented oils, bubble bath and stuff like that, because after baby comes, you will need to take a moment here and there just for you.

awesome and thoughtful idea. She'll love it.
When my daughter was born, my husband gave me a "mother and child" pendant. For mothers day, he gave me a necklace of her birthstone. Jewelry is always nice when it symbolizes the child. What a nice friend she has in you!

in case you like useful presents which will definately get used then get a toddler tub and fill it with a packet of latest child nappies, packet of wipes, towel&washer set, toddler shampoo, toddler bodywash, powder. Then upload in a pretty jumpsuit, socks, singlet and blanket. (this is an entire began set for them which will definately be placed to solid use. you're able to be able to desire to upload in somewhat toddler nail reducing set with nail scissors and brush and so on...) I enjoyed getting presents created from each and every of the little issues. They continually get used and its relaxing establishing all those issues. (rather of filling a toddler tub in the event that they have one you're able to be able to desire to apply a bog down/basket they are in a position to then use to save toys and so on...)
