You really didn't give enough info but here goes.....A faulty starter is most likely to blame. If you bought it at a large brand name place like A------, you should know lots of their parts are cheap made that they price cheap. That's how they can do it. They offer better line parts for a higher price. If the starter needed shimming and the installer didn't know how it could cause the bendix and even flywheel to suffer. If it had this problem it should have made an unusual grinding noise when cranking. A bad flywheel will kill one. Loose bolts will also cause failure. Most likely though you had a defective one to start with. I'm sure the parts store won't admit to it but I'd bet your replacement was rebuilt and only the noticably bad parts were replaced instead of everything that was worn.

Some starters from the parts stores are rebuilt with inferior parts. It could have been a junk starter out of the box. check the battery cable. A damaged cable could be causing the starter to overheat and go bad. would need more info to get a good idea tho.

Go back to the person that changed it and see if any shims fell out when the old starter was taken out. If so and they weren't put back in that could cause a rebuilt starter to go out that soon.

i own a shop, and if you bought a re-built this can happen to them, not all of them will last long as a new one will, you probably just got a bad one,it may still be under warranty though and you can probably take it back and get another one, usually all of them even the rebuilds carry some kind of a warranty on them, heat will make them go out if its too close to the manifold pipes,or if the vehicle has performance headers on it,if its all stock you probably just got a bad one, good luck with it hope this helps.

Worn ring gear on the flywheel/flex plate.
Hard starting engine.
Cranking the engine for too long.
Oil leaking on it.
Getting too hot.

Or, just "luck of the draw". Bad starter......

many lifetime starters are cheap $$$ and cheap quality to go along with it, they will gladly give you a new one but you have to put it in again, if it was replaced at a shop they have to eat the labor.
