Ok well i have a 90 honda civic lx 1.6 engine, It is fuel injected. i messed with my idle screw today. i took it out cleaned it then put it back on and now my car sounds like a lawn mower. it is really spudding bad. I tried to fix the idle because it would not hold it when it got warm. So did i not tighten the idle screw all the way or did i really mess my car up?

As far as I can remember, the idle adjustment on Civic is part of the closed loop system. That means, unless you are pretty close to what it should be, and has to be in very narrow range of what is proper.

If not, it will run very rough, not hold idle at all, or oscillate up and down.

I *think* the procedure calls for unplugging the vacuum advance, plug it, then set the idle. If you have a service manual, it should explain how to do this.

I think your current adjustment is way off....

its just the idle screw. nothing major. readjust it as necessary to get to the correct idle or to the idle desired. should all be fine.

you have not reset it properly it may go in further or out a fraction you need to play with your idle pin while your car is idoling.

yes, you did, but, you might be able to fix it if you put one of those things that you put on the exhaust pipes of a motor cycle to kill the sound
