Noone is required to swear on anything. If an athiest is accused of a crime and decides to testify in court, all they need to do is promise to tell the truth. Lying in court is a crime.

Of course not. Swearing on the bible is silly. You can be a christian, swear on the bible and still lie! It's true. Happens everyday. Swearing on the bible proves nothing except trying to fool christian people that you are telling the truth by swearing on the bible.

(Damnit, it's "athEIst!" Remeber that the end is -ist, like "Baptist." You don't write "Baptest," do you?)
Uh, does ANYONE swear on a Bible when they commit a serious crime?
I think you're referring to taking the stand in court. The answer is an obvious no.

nope. i was deposed yesterday. when they swore me in with the words, "do you swear to tell the whole truth, so help you god?" i stated that i am not a christian. so they just cut it down to, "do you swear to tell the whole truth?" swearing on a bible doesn't keep anyone from lying.

I don't think so, or at least they shouldn't have to. I think they may swear on their honor, instead

i wouldn't. and i actually think its optional to do so if any courts do it at all still. you do still have to raise your right hand though.
