Yours was a disaster destined to happen. Never, Never, Never, plug a computer, monitor into a switched outlet. Those outlets are for lighting only. The current spikes generated by those things, not to mention the power loss across the switch can cause all sorts of problems.
Plugging in an UPS, a very good idea in general, just makes the load worst. Find a hardwired outlet, Please.

Good Luck

Yes. The sudden loss of electricity stopped the computer from properly ending its code. Therefore, data and functionality may have been lost. Troubleshoot it, or reinstall the OS if it still doesn't work. Get a surge protector or backup electric battery thing so you can properly turn off the computer next time.

A sudden drop in electricity can have negative effects on software and hardware. I would recommend doing a scandisk on your hard drive followed by a defrag. Also in order to prevent it from happening again, make sure your computer is not on a switched outlet and invest in a UPS.

It probaly reset the sound information and its running at 80% because your computer is waiting for it to happen again.
