Graves in a circle represent non Christians or "witches". In actuality, they are probably just normal people, but the Christians who buried them must have felt that those people did not deserve the traditional east to west Christian style burial.

Is it a family plot? In some cases, they had their children buried in a circular pattern around the parents to prevent arguments over who should be closest or farthest from the parents. Sort of like the Round Table, with no one person better than the next.
