In our search for equality we come to a place where some are more equal than others. I am a hard core progressive, socialist, environmentalist, pacifist... that believes in a living right.
When we seek special acceptance we fractionate our collective spirit. If you took all the liberal minded, fair people in this country and gave them a single objective you would see an amazing thing. It is the ability of the Global elite to devide and conquer that keeps us from moving forward.... we all have much more in common than not.
Empathy is the key to our success....
can we all just get along?

we have to be honest with ourselves... I am no bigot but I'm not blind to a form of reverse discrimination.

I assume that the original goal is to become seen as or treated as equal to the majority, it seems to me that if one receives special treatment or special advantages, then one is no longer equal but has an advantage that is not available to the majority, therefore they are unfairly better than equal.

If people treated each other with respect there would be no need for so called special treatment. However, so many gays, blacks, hispanics, cross-dressers, have been found dead by the side of the road. Special Protections or Death, not very hard to chose the right answer.

I think some of you have mental issue's and should put the keyboard down and step away from the monitor and maybe ride a bike or have a life. When you are attacking children and calling spouses horrible things all for the sake of party politics you have issue's that need serious counseling. How old are you people anyway, if you say 15 it would make a bit more sense but I get the feeling most of you should be acting your age.

If they want us to accept them as equals, then why the special interest groups and why the special treatments?

By asking for a special treatment, special interest groups are contradicting their search for the equal treatment.

What do you consider to be "special treatment"? I don't believe that many who "have social privelege" fully understand the amount of freedom that they "naturally" have and so, they probably believe that those who are--or were-- forced to live on the "social margins" are being given "special treatment".

Special treatment & acceptance?? When, in the 21st century, people are still discriminated against based on such things as the color of their skin or their sexual orientation.

I don't think blacks, gays, or other groups get special treatment- they just strive to get equal treatment which they currently are not getting

How is wanting equal rights and one's civil rights the same as special treatment? I'd say they just want the same rights to marry and rights to access of good education that rich whites and some middle class whites have. That's not special rights, that's civil rights.

If "people are people" as so many of these "special interest groups" insist, then why should anyone deserve special treatment?
