1. know what you are downloading and who you download it from. I use the phrase "if in doubt.. throw it out" always download from the manufacturer over joes ftp download site. 2. Use yahoo mail or webmail interfaces over stand alone mail clients(outlook, netscape, edora) YAHOO web mail scans your e-mail before it gets to you.
3. Use a router between your modem and computer.
A. it cuts off your ISP ip address at the router
B. allows you to have multiple computer online at the same time

You can only use one antivirus program in you pc. More then one will cause serious conflict with your system. You can use two or three antispyware programs if you have the necessary resources. Here is a free excellent antivirus program from AOL, Active Virus Shield powered by Kaspersky Labs of Russia. Rated # 1 in the world for virus detection. You will get auto updates every hour on the hour plus excellent background scanner. AOL, will only ask you for your email so they can send you a free key good for one year. After one year ask for a new key.

Its not "the computer". You don't need anti-virus software if you use a professional operating system such as Mac OS X or Linux!

Only the insecure "Microsoft Windows" is so leaky that it gets infested with viruses, trojans, spyware and adware that it needs 3rd party add-ons to help hold it together. And with Windows, you can never have enough protection - and don't forget the other prop-ups it needs too! Things like tools to defrag its awful filesystem, and things to fix the creaky old registry!

You only need at least one anti-virus (recommended AVG), one anti-spyware (recommended Windows Defender), a firewall, and a rootkit scanner.

Then run those applications at least one a month for security checks (except the Firewall 'cause its already running 24/7)

Update your firewall and spyware (I prefer using Norton 2007, which will blocks all type of virus and worms.
), and then you should scan your computer in safe mode.

after you remove the virus, I recommend you to use firefox browser. It's safer than IE.
It can prevent viruses such as worm, trojan etc. Firefox browser can be downloaded from http://www.mollzia.com
