I think they changed it to be like Napster and you have to pay now. I think people use limewire now.

Kazaa is P2P software, in other words it is NOT a company, that you download from,

when you download anything with P2P software you're connecting to other peoples computers and downloading from them, so anything you download could be pirating Music, Videos, Movies, and software, all copyrighted material and going off you're question you know it is against the law to do this,

so the only way to avoid pirating is goto legal websites and download off them though you may have to pay for the privileged to do so.

Free music, movies, books, etc. are not legal unless they are no longer under copyright. Most of the stuff on free stuff on Kazaa, Limewire, etc. won't fall into this category, so downloading them would be illegal. No, it's not ethical and yes, you could theoretically be charged with a crime. Try Napster or iTunes for relatively inexpensive music.

Kazaa itself isn't illegal (which is why their asses aren't sued off)

It's what you download off Kazaa... ie: just about any song.

Also, somebody said downloading copyrighted songs from bittorrent was legal, thats total BS by the way.

Nothing is free my friend. Get itunes or napster and download legally.

the only free downloads from kazaa are uncopyrighting things, like ppl's home videos or like their own personal music. anything that was once on a CD is def copyrighted. there is no such thing as free music downloads. the only legal way is to pay for them, and they arent much. the cheapest i've heard of is $1.00 per song.
i wen to school with a girl whos mom was a lawyer and dealt with alot of the law suits. my cousin is also into law enforcement. i've also read news and journals on things like this. limewire is alot like kazaa and you can pay for it for downloads. i know about a handful of ppl who have gotten in trouble for this including a neighbor of mine. its very common to get caught. i would never do it.

File sharing programs such as LimeWire or Kazaa are legal. It's what you download with them that you can get fined for, but that's only if you get caught, which is nearly impossible.

Hi,
glad you are asking to make sure
1. any program is basically legal, it depends on HOW YOU USE IT. Limewire is legal, but the way most people use it is not, same with bittorrent.
2. Remember, there is nothing free on earth, if it seems to good to be true it is. You risk getting caught and getting virus.

Hoped I helped and hope you make the right choice

Yes it is completely legal. It is a file sharing program. As long as you are not distributing for profit you should be ok. And no child porn. To be on the safe side change your setting on your computer so you can download files, but do not share them.

Ive used WinMx Kazza Morpheus Ares Shareazza BitCommet and BearShare, however the single that has given me the least hardship is LimeWire its rapid, you come across virtually something on there and theres no longer alot of mindless information that declare to be what u desire yet are particularly purely classified ads
