I have a spare room full of them I buy instead of borrow, and I keep them all.

I love to read. I must read when I eat, or I get indigestion. I always have at least one book I'm reading.
However, I have maybe two dozen books. One shelf. Half of them are studious books I enjoy and frequently reread, and half are favorite fiction.
I used to move almost once a year. As much I love books, they weigh more than furniture. They require furniture space, and I am an open spaces, minimalist kind of decorator. If it is reference... why in the world? There is no published reference that cannot be subscribed or downloaded.
I still raid the library for recreational fiction, or to brush up a classic or two. It is rare that I will ever read the same fiction more than once a year, even Tim Dorsey, so I feel that purchasing routine paperbacks is wasteful.
Not that I'm knocking collectors. If that's your deal, then it is, and that's cool. But you asked.

I am an avid reader and have recently decided to build my own collection mostly consisting of chess books but also history and other subjects as well. I do no however collect fiction. I despise fiction.

Hehe, yes! Books are my toys, meaning that books are the things I spend too much money on. I always seem to have more books than I have time to read, but I've loved them for as long as I can remember :)

I collect books of all sorts. Actually I'm more of magazine collector. But I'm working on my collection. I buy books that have interesting titles with a good backcover story. =D

No, I keep only 25 books at anyone time. That way any research is of the current kind.

Yes, I have about 400 books, include scientific fiction, travel,Chinese and English literature,biography,reference books...etc., reading is my hobby since I study in primary school.

I would not say tat I collect them. I buy another one, after a finished one, and so on. And BAM! I have a collection.

I suffer from a severe case of biblio-constipation. I've got books out the yin-yang, and wouldn't part with a one of them.
