I think Jamie does sound a bit nicknamish. I like the name for both sexes, but prefer it as a nickname to Jamison, Jamin, Jameson, Jamie Lynn, Jamianne, Jamila, etc

I think it stands more on its own for a girl than boy. It is commonly used on its own.

Usually, I think of Jamie as a nickname for James... or a boy or a girl named for a father named James, where you don't want to give the exact same name.

I have know 1 boy and a couple girls whose names were Jamie... all the girls had a James for a father, and the guy was named for an Uncle James. Plus, lots of James Juniors where dad was Jim, so they are Jamie.

Jamie sounds more like a nickname, but it's not bad as a first name. I've never heard it as a middle name- could be interesting though.

Jamie can be a nick name. I've got a friend who's first name is James, but everyone calls him Jamie... But it all depends on the spelling and if it's a masculin or feminin version.

Haven't you heard of the famous young chef, Jaimie Oliver?
Jamie can be a first name or a middle name. It looks pretty adaptable to me!

It sounds like a nickname or first name to me. I have never heard of it as a middle name. A friend has a daughter with that first name but she spells it Jaymee. I like the name though. But I always think about names: What if she / he grows up to be President? How will that name sound?
