Yes. There are an estimated 11 dimensions. While these may not be exactly what you mean by parallel universe. They can be interconnected if the bulk that our brane (universe) sits on touches another bulk.
Research is showing that matter can slip from one bulk to another and that causes a rip/tear in timespace.
