You can't find a store which has the Wii in stock everytime there's a new shipment of Wiis its always sold out. Everyone wants a Wii thats why a lot of people are buying Wiis off the internet.

Three good answers above! Another reason is a matter of advertising! It's always a factor when dealing with online (wifi) content. Take a look in an electronics section and most companies have some type of "card for service/products". Another reason is that many people don't like using credit card and/or their personal financial info online. With a Wii Points card, nothing personal is compromised.

The reason why nintendo wii is so rare because many people buying like crazy that people buy more than nintendo can produce in the factory. I guess you have to fight for it. Here's my tip. If you want to check up on the wii whenever they in stock but you don't want to drive everytime, you get their phone number and call them every single day to see if they have one in stock. Don't give up until you got one.

umm do you have anystores that sell electronics that alot of people dont shop at like fredmeyer? because fredmeyer is a good store i got my wii there so maybe check some local stores

Go to WAL-MART or K MART if you want to put it in the Layaway. Because Wal-Mart don't have a Layaway anymore.

You can get one online on ebay or amazon around $280.00 or Toys R Us on Sunday they restock.
