i would shoot for 4.8-5.2 as a freshman. i played football and run a 4.71 on 40 i was a db and running back. (sorry about the 4.17) btw Clavin johnson ran a 4.35 at the combine and was the fastest there. do track it helps 100m 200m if you are wanting to be powerful back work expect running a little slower, but with more power. and the guy below me im out of college and play in the minor league baseball no. I pulled a jeff samarjiza how ever you spell his name. If you want to think of it in baseball terms jaun pierre runs under 4 on 90ft which is almost 22.5 ft per second, which doesn't sound right but it is. also i used to run a 4.55 then i took a knee shot in football and after 12 months of physical therpy and 2 years of training i was able to run a 4.71. that will teach me to reread so everyone doesnt call me a liar. lol

LOL...lots of dreamers here or just out and out liars. A 4.8 as a freshman is good, as your body matures and your muscles develope more you'll get a little faster but don't expect to ever be a 4.4 kind of guy. Coaches have an old, and very true saying, the one thing they can't teach is speed. You either are physically capable of it or you're not.

well idk who this guy is who answered the question b4 me, but apparently he is .2 seconds faster than adrian peterson and reggie bush so well be seein him in the pros.... a 4.8 is good.... if i were you i would run sprints 4 days a week this summer and work on ur form and endurance and ull shave a couple tenths of a second off that time... also if ur thinkin about playin at the next level id shoot for a 4.4 or 4.5 unless u can do better, im planning to play college WR and i run about a 4.8 as a sophmore and im goin to training camps to try to bring that to a 4.4 by my senior year

a 4.8 is good for a freshman that means with alot of training by your senior year you should be able to hit a 45 or 4.6 and if you make the college level you should be able to graduate with a 4.4 or 4.5 speed but we are getting too far. to be honest a blazing fast freshmen runs about a 4.6 maybe a 4.5 if he is SUPER BLAZING FAST and the clocks were slightly broken. really you are in good shape keep doing your thing. do track train hard. i hit a 4.78 as a freshmen and now i run a 4.65 so keep it up

a 4.17 my ***.... thats a crock right there... I'd go 4.4 or 4.5 to be a starter... however 4.8 isnt bad. If you have good receiving skills, good running skills and an overall awareness of the game any coach would start you.
You can't learn speed, its a natural thing. If you dont' have it, work on fine tuning your other skills.

well you need at least a 4.5 but if you want to excel you might want to get that under 4.4.
