Being a Packers fan and loving his mistakes lol, heres my full unbiased opinion:
Rex Grossman does have the potential to be a star. Good arm, pocket awareness, and quick feet. There's just a few problems with him.
1) He never tries to put touch on his passes. I know they all can't be floaters, but you can't try to gun it in all the time (look at Favre when Mike Sherman was asking him to do the impossible)
2) He tries to force it down field waaaay too often. Too many times hes tried to get the long ball in double coverage to Benard Berrian when he had Desmond Clark wide open on a flat route.
3) His accuracy needs to improve. He has good feet to be mobile, but not the right body placement to accurately lead receivers, on well run routes. (No this does not include the streak or seam you saw so often that only requires to either lob it in front of him, or bullet it to a wide open receiver)
If he can improve in those areas, which im sure Offensive Coordinator Ron Turner can, and with another season, he can become a well polished QB.

Rex has the potential to be a very good quarterback but there are a few positives and negatives going into this season:
On the plus side, he clearly can throw a nice deep ball when given enough time, protection in the pocket. Also, he learns from his mistakes as the game progresses but usually this knowledge doesn't carry over to the NEXT game and he essentially started from scratch several times and repeated the same mistakes (overthrowing, throwing to defensive players without a receiver in sight and jerky movements in the pocket). But the best drive I remember from last season was during the Bears first game against Minnesota (when they were both 2-0) when he led the bears to a winning drive late in the game. Based on this and his two playoff victories I say he has a decent shot at improvement.
The main negative for me, besides being so inconsistent, was several comments he made last season about not studying tape and in general, a lazy attitude when it comes to stepping up his game. Not all QBs are like Peyton and study tape all day but if I was Rex last year, thats what I would have been doing. This 'I'm not in a rush to learn' attitude may cost him as he may think he has the tools and doesn't need to refine them (which he obviously does.)

If the Bears keep that worthless piece of crap Grossman I know I would be ashamed to be a Bears fan....I mean really what the hell did he do on the field and off the field 4 that matter ....The bears could have won the Super Bowl this year with ANY OTHER Q.B. besides his pothetic a**....They could have had the elderly Roger Staubach in as Q.B. an kick some serious a@@, is all they needed was some one that could at least play the position......If thay had to grab some one out of the stands, they had to be better than Grossman.......

No offense yet he have been given the Bears to a Superbowl in merely his twenty 6th occupation start up. particular different factors helped us win all season long yet your QB is the communities chief. Smith suggested so himself and it relatively is why he does not bench Grossman. provide the infant a smash. Jesus. BTW- "Cat" you suggested he's puffed up??? do no longer chime in except you comprehend something with regards to the gamers or the sport. He has been scrunized by ability of the media all season long. How can he be puffed up?

Not me. Rex Grossman made a ton of mistakes. Even for his first full year as a NFL quarterback, most of the bears games were won purely on offense. Sorry man, Grossman is going to be a backup after this year.

I think rex grossman was the most overratted qb last year. He played a couple good games, got lucky a few others, and then the deffence or other offensive players carried him through the rest of the season. but what do i know im a cowboys fan, our qb cant even hold a ball so the other guy can kick it 15 feet.no hard feelings i just couldnt stand grossman last year, but drew brees impressed the hell out of me,.

He'll be better but he's most definitly not the "real deal". They need to go after a vet if they want to win the SB. They need to make the move fast while they have the team. If you put McNabb on the Bears, you can plug them in the SB right now.

He let the media get to him. Take a look at his first 6 or 7 games, he was Peyton Manning like... then the media made his head big and he plummeted.
He needs to keep his head in the game and out of the media and he will be one hell of a QB. Im a Gators fan, so I'm rooting for him!

i honestly think he will fall apart and will not last the season as the bears' starter...there will be immense pressure on him because his success or failure will be the key to how far the bears go, since it appears that they will be without lance briggs for most of the season if not all of it and they got rid of thomas jones...i just think the media pressure and the idea of carrying this football team on his back will be too much and he will have some major struggles before brian griese takes the controls and tries to save chicago's season
