No they did not. You aren't really realizing something. While the masses are bit*hing about the war, when polled they balked at cutting off funding. This therefore means unless the same ones who are against this war are also against funding, there is not much the Democratic controlled Congress can do without the 2/3 majority they would need to override the veto. So unless the majority of "we the people" get up off our collective a*ses and say to the Congress " CUT OFF FUNDING" then you got no one to blame but yourselves for not providing a veto-proof majority to the Dems. When dealing with a mule, you got to have not only the carrot but a long enough switch to swat his behind. The slight majorities in both House and Senate was the carrot but a short switch.

The Iraqi situation has been going on for almost 5 years, the Democrats have been in office for a bit over 4 months. They have a very slim lead in both houses so they cannot over ride Bush's veto. However if just 16 of the Republicans would vote with them they could get it done. I keep wondering why those Republicans won't help get these bills passed or perhaps you didn't know that this might be part of the problem.

Shouldn't that (assuming you support the war) make you happy? If the opposing party does something that you actually support, it's probably best you celebrate about it, since it probably doesn't happen too often.
It always puzzles how people just can't be happy with anything other parties do. If the Dems called for a withdrawal, you would say it's Vietnam all over again. If they give you and the president what you want, you call them weak cowards who can't stick to their principals. Haven't you ever stepped back and looked at how absurd this all is?

This is a dumb question because the Democrats do not have enough votes to over-ride a veto by Bush. Do you love Bush more than reason

again, Republican propaganda gets in the way of the truth...
few promised a quick end to the war (only the radicals) as the vast majority wanted deadlines and a plan...
so, it seems that you don't have a clue what you're talking about...
why is it that when a Republican says what "Democrats said"... it's almost never what they actually said?

Do you have a clue about Iraq? One of my boys just came back after being shot while on patrol. He says most of the soldiers think Bush is wasting the finest army on earth. But brave people like you can write all sorts of chest thumping brave crap and never face danger. You make me want to puke.

Well, they made promises (which like good little libs you believed) that they could just pull the plug. You don't just stop just because you find it unpalatable to do what is the right thing. As we know all libs have spines of jello, somebody has to stand up for SOME principle...not just play politics.
