It depends on what you're planning to do, and what you're counting (or not counting) in that money.

If you're staying in a hotel to attend the convention, that can get expensive. You have to consider the fee to enter the convention. Depending on how long you are staying, you might have to pay for several meals, and usually the places at the convention centers are a little on the expensive side.

If you're not staying in a hotel, and you've already covered the fee to get into the convention, and you don't feel a need to buy souvenirs... then you shouldn't need much spending money above and beyond meals.

Eep! I love anime north :D this will be my second year going and based on my experience from last year I think bringing a snack, camera and a phone are all good ideas. I like to carry around some sort of bag (big or small) as I also brought my wallet, water bottle, makeup bag and an emergency sewing kit (in case my costume ripped or something :). Also I ended up buying and receiving a lot of things so its useful to have a bag to carry it all. And what is an anime convention like? Well it's definitely an amazing and jam packed experience :D as there are tons of fun things to do at anime north. :) check out the site for all the details/events but my favourite parts were definitely the marketplace, the skit and idol competitions, the workshops and the people. The marketplace sells anime dvds and manga for sure, but they also sell character plushies, figurines, pillows, keychains, jewelry, contacts, costumes, costume accessories, wigs, weapons (fake and real!), lolita things and so much more :D. I spent so much money lol TT.TT Tip: If something is popular definitely buy it early as it might sell out, but if you think your safe then wait and some things can often go on sale on the last day :). There are skit and idol competitions you can watch and the people are pretty hilarious (in the skits) so those are always a fun way to spend your time. Tip: if you want to watch one of them get there early! line ups can get quite long for these :O. They also offer a variety of free workshops depending on your interests. A couple I remember from last year were cosplay 101, lolita cosplay, Ball jointed dolls, etc. They're quite useful if you're new to everything and want to learn more :) And finally the best part would probably be the people. Everyone there is so friendly, people break out randomly dancing all the time and everyone takes pictures of each other, especially if you're in costume :) Either way I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun!! Maybe I'll see you there haha :D

It honestly depends on how much you have at your disposal. If you're still living with the parents and not making your own money, then perhaps $50 to $75 would be appropriate.

At major conventions, I usually take $300 or so and hold on to a hundred of it for an emergency fund (car needs gas, unexpected hotel expense, etc).

PROTIP: The best deals are on Sundays. Dealers often cut prices 30% or more to move their stock. More discounts = more money left to spend.

However much you are thinking of bringing, double it.

A lot depends on how much of whatever you are going to be buying
