I can remember when you didn't have to press 1 for English.

I make less phone calls these days it's easier to write or e-mail certain people or businesses.
I have phoned numerous times to some places and pressed all the relevant buttons and still ended up getting through to the wrong person.
If it's an important matter I write to them and ask them to inform me within a certain time or I will seek further advice and I tell them I have a copy of my correspondence, it usually works.

I love modern gadgets but I am still having adjustment problems with people talking into what seems empty air when in fact they are on a conference call while driving down the highway.
Yes indeed I miss those days. Then if I saw someone talking to themselves I would thing it wasn't normal... now a days ya never know.

I don't call those things very often but when I do it pisses me off. And sometimes if you press the wrong number you have to start all over again.

Yeah...I wish my folks had never gotten that automated system -- between that and their Caller ID, I *never* get to talk to them any more! :P
