I'm only here to second EFW's list: you HAVE to have Buford's initial skirmish, which established the positions and required the Confederates to attack uphill, also the battle at Little Round Top and of course Pickett's Charge. You might like to include JEB Stuart's late arrival at the battlefield, where he was rebuked by Lee for not doing his job properly.

You'll need a rectangle to make a battlefield model: use builder's wall filler and newspaper. Get a topographical map and use corrugated cardboard or styrofoam to make the contours, then slop the filler-impregnated newspaper over it. Put white wood glue and water in a plant sprayer and use that to glue on sawdust, then paint with either spray cans or paint applied the same way as the glue. Monopoly houses or styrofoam for the buildings, lichens from the railway/hobby shop for trees (or use dried plant roots). Cut fences and walls from paper and cardboard. Remember the Round Tops were quite scrubby- do your research.

Oh, and varnish or seal the base board before you start of it might warp.

Good luck.

Day One: Buford's Union cavalry skirmishes with Heth's rebel division and holds them until reinforcements arrive.

Ewell fails to take the high ground at Culp's Hill and Cemetery Hill after routing the yankees thru the town of Gettysburg.

Day Two: Heavy fighting in the Peach Orchard and Wheatfield.

20th Maine Regiment barely beat back a concerted flanking attack by Longstreet's Corps on the Union left flank at Little Round Top

Day 3: Lee orders the death of thousands of Virginians, by having them cross over 1 1/2 miles of open ground against massed artillery and entrenched muskety fire....AKA Pickett's Charge....i like to call it Pettigrew-Pickett assault, btw pickett only commanded 3 of the 9 brigades involved.
