It really won't do any good because people stock up either the day before or the day after. What is really needed is to end speculators and for Americans to conserve gas, making less trips. Also to drive smaller vehicles.

No, unless there is a program to get people on sidewalks we are all doomed to be fat and pay for gas whenever we can't or don't want to walk.
