You never hear a con say maybe the troops should come home and if we use some of the technology we have, then maybe we can protect our country domestically.

Yeah ok guys. I understand being tough and that we need to be tough to defend our country and not be a wussie. I am not a wimp or maybe I am who cares. The point is marines, army, navy, and even the kp guys who serve up chow in the army are necessary and I am proud of them but they do not need to die policing a civil war even if they were propogandized to think they are fightin terrorism in iraq.

I think both right and left sides should care.
Soldiers deploy to any part of the world as part of their job.Their job is to obey orders, whether they agree with them or not.As Americans we dont have to agree on every decision is made in Congress or by the President but we do have a duty to be at least appreciative that those soldiers volunteered to be in our military.Otherwise a draft would be mandatory as it is on many countries, especially in the middle east. The truth is the american public is entitled to their opinions but should not take it against those who are caught in the middle. Our soldiers are dying every day in foreign lands, many of them young impressionable kids that wanted to see the world and achieve a career. Many from poor homes and desperate to make a difference in their life.A difference that has come to a very expensive price. It is not up to them to leave Iraq or Somalia or Afghanistan; they are doing their job.As americans we need to do ours, quit caring so much for the foreigners and start caring for your own!

I am a "con" as you put it, and I really care about the lives of our American men. I was always against this war but I don't run this country and the people we've voted in don't seem to be doing it either. I would never have sent them in the first place, you'd think that we'd have learned our lessons on civil wars by now, wouldn't you?

When you consider that over 73% of the Americans want the troops home, then it stands to reason that they can't all be Democrats, can they? With that in mind, many Republicans must also want the troops home. Perhaps its a bit unfair to label Conservatives as all being willing for only Democrat's family members to fight this civil action in Iraq.

John Kerry served
But what of the others?
Where were the neocons
In the band of brothers?
Trembling and scared
Behind mommies skirts
Clutching 4Fs
In their designer shirts
Karl, Dickie, Bill and Rush
Newt, Trent and Tom DeLay
Never served in the military
Not even a day
They all had their reasons
For avoiding the fuss
Even fat Limbaugh
Had a butt full of puss
And the village idiot
Failed to report
He’d just done a line
So lovely to snort
But they’re mighty brave
All wrapped in their flags
As they rant and they rave
Kids come home in white bags
They point their fingers
While claiming they’re pure
Unwilling to pay
Soldier’s wounds to cure
My brother’s names
Are etched in that wall
Brave men who served
Only to fall
And the right wing wackos
Have the guts to claim
That they’re patriots
It’s the liberals to blame
Hide your faces in shame
You Hypocritics and snakes
Like O’Reilly and Rush
You’re world class fakes

Are you kidding?! We are always complaining that our troops are being held back and that if one is hurt the whole town should go. We don't want our young people there either but the job has to be done and they are the ones to do it. And because they are there we want them to have every advantage and pass on bad behavior possible. It ain't easy being a good person when the kid you give candy to one day may be wiring an IED the next.

You are right! As long as their son's and daughters or grandchildren aren't the ones laying their lives on the line they are for the war. I just told a con( he called himself that!) yesterday not to tell my friend his "go to war!" thoughts to my friend because her grandson is over there for the 3rd time! This man has no family member in Iraq or in the the service for that matter! Unless they themselves have a loved one there they wouldn't understand!
We are not against the troupes! We are against the war!

Actually I do care if my hubby comes home alive and in one piece thank you very much. Who are you to shove words down our throats? Of course I want them home, but we are at war and our men and women will serve until their commander in chief says otherwise. We care about them, probably more than you do. Would you rather have them bomb us here? Didn't think so.

I've often wondered how Bush would feel if his daughters were on the front lines.
It reminds me of a couple of lines from my favorite anti-war song, Pink Floyd's "Us and Them":
"'Forward', they cried from the rear, and the front rank died.
Generals sat and the lines on the map moved from side to side."
It's easy for leaders to be unemotional when they're so far removed from the action.
