Hi, I will be doing an internship in Tanzania from September for three months. Make sure you get your immunizations up to date and take some malaria tablets. I would also take a mosquito net, your own sheets and a travel pillow if you plan to rough it in certain places. Do as much research as you can before you go and it will make your trip so much more easier and more fun. When I am there, I want to go to Kilimanjaro and also head out for a few days on a Safari.

Before you leave, make sure you go to the travel clinic to get all the injections you need, and antimalarial drugs.
Also stock up on: high factor sun screen, insect repellant, oral rehydration salts, wet wipes etc. You'll also probably need things like a treated bed net, torch, sun hat, good sunglasses, comfortable and sturdy shoes (I usually find trainers are ok, but it depends what you are doing).
For clothes take things that are light and cover your arms and legs if you will be working out doors - also things that you dont mind getting dirty. Also flip flops, and a light rain coat would probably be good. Ear plugs are also a good thing to have if you are a light sleeper as budget accommodation can be VERY noisy!
When you are out there - take care of your health, avoid eating raw foods, dont drink the tap water or have ice cubes (just have bottled water), make sure you keep well hydrated (you can use the oral rehydration salts for this), spray your room every night with doom to kill the bugs. And in terms of security, try not to walk around on your own until you get to know the area and the culture a bit better, dont carry valuables or large amounts of money with you, dont drive around outside the cities/towns in the dark, take photocopies of your passport (keep seperately and also keep one at home if possible).
Hope this helps. Have a great time!

you need mosquito repellents because africa is prone to malaria. take some anti malaria drugs. i dont know much abt tanzania but for most african countries the weather is very warm so go with a lot of light clothes. there is a lot of dust so maybe a humidifier for the room might help. as you walk around in town keep good hold on your money and cell phone. i wish you well
