so, i'm in the process of getting my doctor to write a recommendation to my insurance company for me to get one. i just wanted anyone who has had one, or is close to someone who has to share their stories, be them good or bad. about the procedure itself or insurance or whatever.
oh, and in case you're wondering, i'm 21. 5'6 150lbs, size 36ddd breasts. suffer back pain, dents in shoulders, headaches etc because of them. am very fit and healthy otherwise.

I have a "surgery story" that is way too long for this post, but I had mine done in Feb 2006 and my only regret is not getting it done sooner.
My insurance company covered it 100% ($8,000).
I had five pounds taken off, my back really really likes me!
I was in surgery for three hours, stayed in the hospital overnight. I was off work for two weeks (take more if you are in a physically active job) and on light duty for a total of a month. Slowly work your way back to full duty and take your time working out.
This site helped me out TONS when I was doing my research and before and after surgery:

I had a breast reduction 7 years ago. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. The procedure was no problem, a little sore and stiff afterward. Insurance paid for everything because it was deemed to be medically necessary. My sister had it done 5 years ago as well, with no problems.

Go for it, this is not about vanity, extremely large breasts and the health problems they cause are something women with T cups (teacups, ha ha) never have to worry about. Good luck.
Besides improving your self esteem, you can now wear all the nice lingerie and nice clothes you want, It will be nice to wear a dress that fits right, top and bottom.

I would ask the doctor about breastfeeding in the future. Sometimes they cut things and breatfeeding becomes impossible. If this is something you want in the future, make sure he knows about it.
Good for you. Had insurance covered it for me years ago, I would have had it done just because nothing fits (I don't have pain issues).

I was larger than that when i had mine.. i was thrilled with it for a while.. but now it seems they are getting larger again.. it is a very painful surgery but as long as it is done right it can be very helpful.. it sounds like you have some of the same problems i did before i had mine.. best of luck to you :)

I never had it done, but was close. My deciding factor was that I knew I wanted to breastfeed and removing some of the mammory glands and ducts during a reduction can lower (not nescessarily delete) your chances of succesfully breastfeeding. But good luck in your decision!

I have a couple of friends who have had this surgery and they say it's the best decision they ever made. I also have another friend who should have had it and didn't - she has deep grooves in her shoulders from bra straps. I think you are on the right path - good luck.

Listen, get a massage and a bra with a counter-weight - they exist.
My gf had two reductions and it left her numb for YEARS, and there's some scarring that is still fading.
Don't do that - 36DDD? - beautiful, don't destroy the beauty that God himself gave you.
