There is no true DOS anymore in windows, but two ways are: boot to a DOS floppy or CD, or reboot and as you are coming back up hit the F8 key and select "windows with command prompt". Also, depending on what it is you are trying to do, since you werent specific, a simple MS Dos prompt may be all you need. Start>run>cmd.

If it is windows 98 it is easy
close into dos mode on shutdown
If it is xp you can boot with a win 98 startup disk

www.bootdisk.com to make a diskette or cd

However if the drive is formatted as the standard xp ntsf format win 98 may not be able to see it, If it is the older fat 32 it will.

You might go start > run > cmd to get a dos prompt
but you may not be able to do fully what you wish to do

You may want to get a throwaway pc and install windows 98 or dos onto it,

click on start,
click on dos mode
type in your dos commands

Do you know what DOS Stands for?
seems if you don't know what dos is you will not be able to run it.

DOS = Disk Operating System
you will have to type in all the dos commands to get the computer to do anything
