I used to have a chihuahua but i had to get rid of her because she was too mean and tried attacking everyone, i strongly do not reccomend chihuahua's. Now i have mini schnauchers and they really love and protect my whole family. They're really loyal and caring dogs. Great with kids.

None dogs can be very jealous of new things (babies) if hey have been here for a while, they have been known to even bite them. I would advise to wait for a while before getting a dog. Perhaps when the child was 4 or 5 would be a better time. Besides dogs also need cleaning up after and babies are known for putting all kinds of stuff in their mouths.

I personally think it should be one or the other (dog OR baby), but I tend to be a worry wart....... and they can coexist. Labs are known to be gentle with kids, as are poodles.... but too small can be an issue, cause kids can rough house and hurt a dog without intending too. My brother and his wife were advised NOT to get a cocker spanial or chiuahua because both tend not to be good with kids (key word tend, some may be).

What? haha i wouldnt get a dog if i was going to have another baby because the baby is going to be way more work then a dog. And its better not to have any animals in the house for the baby anyways.
