Tape worm eggs + larva come from excrements of an infected host. If you eat the excrement (and some animals do) then it'll get infected. If the animal leaves it's excrements in water, then that it will contaminate the water, you drink the water and swallow an egg or larva, you get a tape worm. If you eat an animal that has a tape worm you could get it, or if an infected animal leaves dropping in your vegetable garden, you could get it.
Basically you can only get a tape worm from eating it, and the only way the offspring gets out of the host is through the host's droppings.

They belong to the flat worms subgroup, (planthelmynths), and there are two, that may infest the humans: Taenia solium (small tapeworm) and Taenia Saginata (large tapeworm)..they arise from the eggs or larvae of flat worms living in the intestine of the swain (pork)....they live there, and infest the animal in several part of his body (like trichina, mainly muscles), and when we do eat semi-cooked pork meat, those larvae "anchor" the small intestine wall, invading the lymphatics, carrying them to the liver or to the venous circulation, and ending in a very unpredictable destinies in our body (brain, retina, muscles, etc)
