I haven't heard of someone's vagina (birth canal) being to small, but I have heard that womens' pelvic opening is too small. A vagina can stretch to accomodate a baby, but pelvic bones can only give as far as the ligaments allow, which isn't very much.

She should clarify with her physician what he meant, and she should also ask what his plans are for delivery.

It usually means the Dr is an arrogant jerk who is proclaiming something without knowledge. There's no way he can say if her birth canal is too small or not until she goes into labor. He can theorize, and speculate all he wants but there's no way to know until the moment of truth. The birth canal is surprisingly elastic and resiliant and for anyone to pass a claim like this before a birth is even attempted is bad medicine. Tell her to seek a second Dr.

It just means that the baby at full term will not be able to fit through her birth canal and she will have to deliver the baby and any future children by c-section.

It means she needs to find a new doctor. The birth canal is the vagina. they are amazingly stretchy.

Sounds like this doxtor wants to line his pockets by terrorizing another woman into surgery.

Please have her get a second opinion.

What did the doctor say about it being too small?

If it's a little on the small side, she might have to be induced before the baby gets to big to fit through it, if it's way on the small side, she might have to deliver through c-section.

It means the size of her pelvis opening is too small to allow a baby to pass through it.

She might not be able to give birth to her child vagionaly. If she does try to, she could be in a lot of pain and they could have to use a vacuum to get the head and sholders out. Or, the sholders could get stuck on her pelvic bone, causing pressure.

it meens what it says!...
her birth canal is to small..
it doesnt meen anything bad... just meens her baby is too big to come out normal so they will most likely do a c-section.. (where the cut her open and take the baby out)...
Alot of women have this problem...
