I was looking at computers and comparing prices and performance, and i saw that macs are very slow and expensive compared to the others.
Why would anyone pay so much money for such a slow computer when you can buy a way faster one for a cheaper price.

I completely agree with you. To me, macs aren't that cool at all. Most people who buy a mac, just use it to work with media stuff, like videos, films, and music, at a more professional level, since the software for them are readily availiable for a mac. But otherwise than that, macs are for work while PC's are for all-around fun. I've got a Sony Vaio SZ and I think it beats the pants off of my MacBookPro (which I only use for working with websites, nothing else). My vaio is much more fun to work with than a mac. They look nice and all, but on the inside, they're really nothing.

it is really more of preference and what you need but here are a few reasons why I bough a mac.

-The OS is much simpler and much more intuitive.

-Its virtually impossible to loose a file now with spotlight.

-pretty much virus free! even with the ones that are out there, there are so few circulating around that the chances of getting one is next to nothing. firewall comes built in.

-better built, better designed. How many windows laptops have bluetooth, or a webcam built right in? Also, its super easy to connect to another mac/windows computer.

-no dealing with the damn windows registry.

-ability to have multiple programs open with NO lagging whatsoever.

-no Blue screen of Death. If one program crashes/freezes, OS is not affected

-you can have the best of both worlds(windows + mac)

-no finding/installing drivers for your peripherals. ok, I guess I can't say you absolutely don't have to find drivers, but those situations are super rare on a mac.

those are just a few reasons why I chose mac.

You really shouldn't take into account of manufacturer specs. WIndows and Mac are two entirely different OSs, and each use the processor in different ways, and therefore it would be unfair to judge a windows and mac computer based on specs alone. In regards to price, have you noticed that, in order to get the "low price" you usually have to mail in a rebate? So if you took away rebates and other store discounts, PCs and Macs would be about the same price.

I've wondered the same thing myself.

I've heard they're supposed to be the best thing around from some, but everyone I know who has one does nothing but complain.

I'll stick with a faster model at a lower price.

I am a PC, Windows XP user...
Macs are not slower...
It all depends on the hardware.

Mac's use higher quality hardware parts than say Dell, HP, Compact, JoeSmoe, etc. The parts are faster and more stable, hence why they are more expensive.

Though people rave about how you do not get Viruses with macs, or how theyre perfect for Media Editing...you can do all that with Windows...unless you are in the professional business, and knowyour stuff pretty well, it wont amtter what you use for your editing. As for Viruses, most windows (pc) users do not update their antiviruse software, or use windows updates, they also go to malicious sites or download viruses through p2p without realizing it.

But it all comes down to preference on what you enjoy and how it looks.

Mac's are for dummies who cannot properly secure a Windows machine.

becayse macs are better. Macs do not need as much RAM to run as a windows computer would. They are not slow.

Stylish

Also, one can buy a souped-up-enough Mac (at high price of course) plus a copy of Parallels plus a copy of Windows and run Windows as a heh heh window in the Mac operating system and have the best of both worlds

Mac is the "Ferrari" and PC is the "Buick"
