Check out the original "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" made in the50s and "Them" also from the 50s. Two of the most frightening movies I saw as a kid. The Original "War Of The Worlds" from the 50s. "The Time Machine" the 60s and "Soylent Green" the 70s. Back in the 30s and 40s there was "Frankenstein", "Dracula", and "The Wolf man". All classics.

Classic horror movie w/ a twist: Young Frankenstein. Best why to view this movie is as part 3 of the following trilogy:

1) Frankenstein
2) Bride of Frankenstein
3) Young Frankenstein.

Anything by Alfred Hitchcock would be great. Movies like: "Psycho," "The Birds," and even "Rear Window" would be good. Those three are probably some of the best known Hitchcock films.

Other more recent films would be the "Nightmare On Elm Street" and "Jason" series. For a "now" time period The "Saw" movies, "Hostel," "Touristas" The new double feature from Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino "Grindhouse" would all be good picks.

One of the scariest movies I ever saw was an old B&W movie made in 1962 called "The Haunting".
They did a remake of it with Catherine Zeta Jones, but it sucked - the original was WAY scarier.

I still have nightmares about The Sixth Sense too.

I think there are better things for the two of you to talk about than horror movies.

However, I would recommend "Psycho" and "Night of the Living Dead".

You didn't mention your ages. NEITHER of those movies is for anyone 18 or younger. But then, NO HORROR MOVIES are appropriate for anyone 18 or under.

Halloween, Friday the 13th, and any 'Scary Movie' you can find (3 is the best, but 4 has the greatest opening scene of any movie EVER!) Also check out Macon County Line. I heard it was a great movie.
