Tropical rainforests are found usually around the equator, where it is warm and rainy. South America, Central America, and the Pacific Islands have abundant areas of tropical rainforest, but they can also be found in Asia and Africa.

Very tall trees are common, as well as epiphytes (plants that grow on other plants), and vines. There is a high variety in the types of plants in a tropical rainforest.

Large numbers of insects, as well as monkeys, birds, snakes, and various mammals live in the tropical rainforest.

They receive more than ~240 cm of rain a year.
