A true, or direct, democracy is ruling by the people. It has three components: initiative, referendum, and recall. The U.S. is a representative democracy. Switzerland is the closest country to a true democracy.

There are NO true democracies in the world today.
Thank goodness.
A true democracy is ruled by the people.
Every issue would be determined by popular vote.
There would be no firm and reliable laws or standards because they could be changed at any moment.
A true democracy can't survive.
America is a republic (a nation governed by laws) with democratically elected representatives.
Those representatives make the laws.
With a firmly held constitution, there is stability that cannot exist in a democracy, but the population still has input into the direction of government.

A democracy is a government of the people. I wouldn't want to change the definition of it. The US is as close as one can come to a true democracy. Apathy of "The People" is why it appears to be failing. You can't force people to take part, you have no democracy then. Everyone does have the opportunity to make a difference and not just by voting.

Today, democracy is thought as being the power of the majority. This is how every democratic country works. The majority who votes one thing gets it to happen.
Also, the international majority can dictate global actions.
For example, most of the world opted against communism and proclaimed democracy as the only viable form of governing. However, a majority's vote cannot comfort every single individual. So, for example, even the majority decided democracy was best for a country like Afghanistan, there are many Afghans who would've preferred dictatorship. This is just the way they think it is best for them; it is how they lived for generations.
So, in my opinion, a REAL democracy has to offer every individual the chance to make his own decision, to use that country's resources in any way he needs, except, of course, in a way that will be harmful to someone.
The only thing that prevents this is, that no matter what, the majority still dictates the world. The majority defines good and bad and this leads to everything else.
To sum up, I do not know how to implement a real democracy, but in my opinion a real democracy has this definition:

"A form of being, that allows every entity to practice its own habits, to make its own choices, BUT imposes the laws of good behavior on all."
This practically means "freedom with laws".

Keeping the Consitution as it stands with no threat to our initial rights. Get this current adm out as thinks of US govt as a big business deal putting special interests over the well-being of US citizens.

Actual votes by the people for representation. Vote by vote, person by person and not the outdated joke of an electoral college.
