About a month ago, I was caught for a misdemeanor by the Anaheim Police Department and since then my case has been transferred to the Orange County Probation Department. I recently received a letter that says I have an interview scheduled with a probation officer where the details of the case will be discussed. Can anybody tell me in detail what the interview would be about? Also, what's going to happen after the interview?

The reason I'm asking is becuase I haven't had any kind of trial or sentencing..after I got caught the police officer questioned me and said I would be receiving more information in the mail. I was expecting a court date, but instead it talks about an interview, that's what I'm confused about.

that's up on your prosecutor no count number in case you would be charged with an "Infraction" or a "Misdemeanor". If the theft replaced into $50 or extra it is going to become a Misdemeanor. while you're convicted it's going to be on your everlasting record and could impact your ability to get a activity as maximum employers do a history verify on workers. Punishment for Misdemeanor Petty theft in California is 6 months in reformatory or an outstanding of $a million,000 or the two. in case you have ever had a prior conviction it's going to be tried as a legal that's a nightmare. Punishment for a Infraction is an outstanding of $250.00 under the circumstances it could desire to be a stable theory to get an legal expert.

I don't know - but I did hear that a crime considered to be a misdemeanor in one state - can still be considered a felony in another state where the same crime might be a felony . I don't know which crime that refers to , though . You might look up the Winona Ryder shoplifting case in California ..for a clue as to what will happen in yopur case . Just figure it like this : Whatever the punishment for Winona Ryder (hollywood elite) was - just imagine your punishment to be 10 times that ..and you'll be pretty much certain of the answer ....unless you ARE one of the hollywood elite .

Usualy no jail time (at least not for a first timer) but restitution of property and a very fat fine plus probation in some cases.

Just play it cool and cooperative. Admit your mistake and they will go easy on you; they got bigger fishes to fry. Just learn the lesson and be a good boy from now on; the second time they will go harder on you.

I'm assuming you pled guilty as you don't mention any kind of trial or sentencing....

At this meeting the details of your parole sentencing will be worked out and the conditions of your parole will be reiterated.
