when i get around 45-50 mph the air from outside starts coming through my vents in my car. what is broken in my dash? is there an easy way to repair it without going to a mechanic. when i push the recycle button on my car it doesnt work when the a/c fan is off so that doesn't help either.

One of the blend doors under the dash in the heater-a/c duct is not working or stuck in the vent position...best to have a mechanic look at it. Lots of removing under dash parts involved. One thing you could do is check for a vacuum leak---do the other functions of the a/c-heater work as in--does the air come out of the center vents when you change the mode to bi-level or come out the floor vents when you change the mode to heater? If you change the mode and nothing happens, it could be a vaccum leak under the hood that supplies vacuum to the heater controls that is causing the problem. Open the hood and see if you hear any hissing sound with the engine running and try to find the location of the hose that's leaking. It will be a smaller type hose about the size of a pencil and will run from the engine to the firewall and go into it. Some car's heater controls for the blend doors are vacuum operated and some are mechanical or electrical.

Nothing is broken just adjust your fan motor so its in the off position and that should do the trick. Cars use this trick to give fresh air to the driver since cars can be very well sealed, and potentially you could get lightheaded before you rolled down the window.
