The thing about Gerry Bruckheimer and Kate Cruise...sorry... Gerry and Kate McCann...got a bit confused with all the media coverage and celeb lifestyle back there...is that they really don't care.
As yourself and countless other people have already put, sure, keep the media involved as much as possible so Madeleine's plight doesn't get forgotten about, but at least look like you're interested. Like I've said a couple of times before, I don't want to see them crawling along the floor in the throes of a nervous breakdown or anything, (I've been there, it's not nice and I wouldn't wish it on anyone; not even these two) but a bit of humanity from them would be nice. Maybe they really do think they're just putting on a brave face and because no-one will tell them what people really think, they honestly don't realise how cold they're coming across as, but surely the facade has to start cracking sometime, especially the longer this goes on? They're doctors, not actors.

I am in total agreement with you and have said so. Mr McCann did not shed a tear when he came back to the UK a couple of days ago and was looking at the flowers and yellow ribbons left for Maddie. It was almost like he was TRYING to make himself cry. I have never seen the mother break down - if I was a mother I would have to be sedated I would be so distraught. These parents are so selfish words fail me (well not quite yet!) what really really gets to me is that no-one has the guts to challenge them - say to their face, "why did you leave your children alone" - They are cold and selfish. Oh yes, before I go, I was gobsmacked when I heard the father say one more question - who the hell does this man think he is for goodness sake. The whole family is from the same mould - on day one the father's sister (Philomena - big scottish woman) was criticising the police for not making quick enough progress - sorry, excuse me? your brother left his children alone whilst they went off for dinner because they didn't want to be bothered by their own children (so precious cos they were conceived by IVF), they then returned from the night out to find their children missing, lie to the police by saying they were checking on them every half hour but actually were stuffing their face and didn't bother checking on them at all - they now spend their days, taking their daily strolls and jogging oh and as you say, putting their two remaining children in day care cos really they can't be bothered with them really - I have smelt a rat for some time - especially when they set up their "charity" which is actually a limited company meaning that they can financially benefit from monies received. Vile.

I agree entirely, I lost my younger 10 year old son for two weeks, I knew where he was. He was in foster care against both of our wishes, will, because I was ill
But and I could not bear to have my other son out of my sight and he is 25 years old son, I was so agitated he took two weeks off work.
If he had been a baby he would not have left my side AT ALL.
I do pray every day that She comes home healthy, but I do wonder what her feelings will be when she realises that the pyscological damage she is suffering from is own to her parents neglect????

I don't know how you can call them cold and emotionless when you're asking a question like this. Their twins are 18 months, an age at which most children love the fun of a creche. There's no point putting the twins through more trauma than they've already been through by taking them out of their usual routine. There's also nothing wrong with them utilising the media to the best extent they can, if it will help them find their child. There's nothing they can do that the police don't have the resources to do much better, the fact that they're keeping their faith is probably what's keeping them strong. Just because they haven't been crying to the TV and newspaper cameras doesn't mean they haven't been crying behind closed doors. Everyone expresses their grief differently and it's not up to you or anyone else to judge them.

It seems to me that the current publicity that the McCanns are generating, certainly on the internet sites, is not about Madeleine at all. It is about them and their newly rich, celebrity status. It is counter productive and people do not like it. People would respect them more if they took the twins home to a more normal existence, stayed out of the limelight and let the police get on with their job.

I've been expressing my opinion about the whole Madeleine abduction and the McCans in great detail on here for days now and its been mentally exhausting, so ultimately I think all I have to say anymore is that I hope Madeliene is found safe and well and was physically unharmed (psychological damage is obviously unavoidable for the little girl) very soon, but on the subject of the McCans themselves all I can now muster is....feck em!!!

I totally agree with you. How can they leave their other two children after what has happened to them.
I hope that they do find her alive and unharmed, however the parents don't seem to be helping the situation, they are just going along with the whole PR thing.
I would be searching every where I could think of, as would be all of my family. The whole email thing was good, but has it helped?
Sitting by the phone or computer is not going to find her.

I entirely agree with you they have been holed up for all this time saying what they are going to do, and all he does is visit England to find out what his funds are. If they had appeared in front of the press saying how sorry they were to have left Maddie and her brother and sister, and how guilty they feel, I think that would have been better for us to see. They come over very cold and calculating, they do not need to stay in Portugal now she is not going to turn up there. I cannot get over in the press it said about him visiting the shrine they have made for Maddie in Leicester with all the cards, ribbons, teddies etc. and he was nearly reduced to tears. I just hope that Maddie is safe and well I feel for her.

Fudgecake, if you havent already, its worth you doing a quick check back on the many other similar questions posed by people on here. You'l find you are not alone in your feelings. Some things that have come out (like the replies to the emails sent to the findmadeleine website) will disgust you.
Welcome to a growing band of realists
