Not as much as we think. It's not all unregulated crooks in China, either. We get "fresh" fruit and vegetables from all kinds of countries that have questionable growing environments. And the FDA and Agriculture Department admit that they don't have enough inspectors for American industry. And who knows what they give those milk cows and those chickens and the pigs to make them bulk up, or produce more milk or eggs, and on and on....And then there is the effect of pollution. Pregnant women are not supposed to eat more than a few ounces of tuna per week, owing to mercury contamination, for example. Oh, sure, I really want to eat what pregnant women can't eat...
