Hi. We are trying to catch an internet predator and we need to know the age of consent in Puerto Rico. I have done a little research and i am getting different answers from 14-18. Please let me know the age and where the information was found. Thank you all very much.

Okay, here is a little background. I am a moderator in a chatroom which I will keep nameless. We had someone come in who is always trying to get the email addresses and other private information of every female that comes in. We set up a "trap" and found out he is approximately 22 years old. Our "Jane Doe" is 15. I need to know the age of consent for sexual activity in Puerto Rico and I am assuming if he were to meet "Jane" in the US, the US laws would apply and if "Jane" were to visit this guy in PR the laws there would be in effect. I appreciate those who have answered so far. Thank you.

Ok in Puerto Rico the Legal Age of Majority is 18, the Legal Age of Consent for Sexual Activity is 14 and the Legal Age of Consent for marriage is 16. I'm not sure about cross border age of consent but I am still looking it up.

If people would concern themselves with actual crimes, rather than worrying about who s screwing who or going to screw a 16 year old, the world would be a better place. Pinche pendejos! The passage of time cures all infirmities in age. Besides, sexual activity is a defining point in developing one s identity. "It is the right of the individual whether married or single, to engage in sexual relations, regardless of the intent of the actors" Lawrence v Texas. and Michael M v Superior Court of California(citing Carey v Population Services International.
The law I have found is 16 in PR and that is the most correct age because they can legally work at a real job and become responsible individuals.

Some years ago it was 14 (incredible but true) now it have been upgraded to 16 (16 plus a day depending on who you ask).
The users below are using outdated information, the Penal Code of P.R. was changed in 2004, so the new age of concent is 16 not 14.
