I'm in the middle of a lot of research for wind generators for a large condo complex in ST Thomas VI....for home use I'm pretty impressed with Bergey (sp? Maybe Bergy) or South West Windpower.

Call your local Weather Service and get your local average wind speed for starts.then figure out how much electricity you use....look on the data plates on refrigerators, stoves, appliances if it says say 10 AMPS then amps times volts equals watts.....so a 10 Amp appliance uses 1200 watts when its running.

You'll find that a wind generator will run almost everything in the house except a refrigerator and certainly not a stove or an A/C......you will probably need a bank of batteries which run the house which the wind generator and/ or town power recharges......its a few extra steps and a big initial investment but the payoff is in a few years.....smart money is the cost of electricity is never going to go down, whether its made by coal or oil or nuclear .....

As many tornado's that roll through there, you want an affordable wind generator. LOL. Dude, just sit back and wait, that wind will come.
