thisbrit. I think it is a shame that we seem to heading for an Orwellian newspeak world. Is the english language expanding or contracting?

Well it depends on the circumstances but myself I rather like the phrase. Pungent.

You may have said it in a 'snotty' way. No one is using "Mayhap" these days and "a tad thick" is definitely an insult.

Sorry. You may think those things, but rarely SAY them. Your teachers/adults are sensitive to insults. People of high breeding and exemplar manners refrain from chastising their elders.
