I mean I read the other day a logger lost his arm because whack job environmentalist made a trap in a forest to hurt anybody cutting down the tree. They will justify their actions by defending a forest, but what is more important a forest or a human life?

Anything is more important than human life to an environmentalist.

Even the most ardent environmentalist deplore and strongly disapprove of tactics that injure, maim or kill loggers.

Extremism suits no one.

First, it does not serve the cause well. ("Save a tree. Kill a logger.") A vile and pernicious sentiment and one I will NOT subscribe to. [NB: I actually saw that bumper sticker]

Second, you alienate those people that you want to bring into the cause

Third, you create a rallying point against what you strive towards.

I feel that you can balance the two requirements and no one need die on either side of the argument.

Not all environmentalists are nuts. I myself try to do my part for mother earth, but you won't see me hacking off body parts.
