A trash bag cut into shape of kite and bolsa wood for the structure... i believe if you google home made kites it will have many different types

A long sleeve t shirt, with leather shoe laces to tie the struts together and staple the t shirt around the shaft, then staple the sleeves to the shirt for tails.
