so last week my fiance graduated from college and he and I celebrated a great deal. I ended up drinking excessively and smoking a whole lot of weed (my first time in several, several months).
Anyway, that obviously was not a bright thing to do--no lectures needed. Before I did it I was almost positive that I was not pregnant, since we had only had one slip-up this month. Now, since yesterday, I've been feeling really tired and, well, pregnant. The smoking/drinking was about 4 days ago. I got a negative pregnancy test today, but its only 8 days past ovulation.
I feel awful about the drinking/smoking, and am so worried that I'm pregnant and have done something to the baby. i just had a miscarriage (blighted ovum--didn't smoke/drink that pregnancy at all) in march. If I am pregnant, has this done serious harm or increased my chances for another miscarriage?

While alcohol and smoking are not good for a pregnancy chances are you may not have fully implanted yet and you are just becoming pregnant as we speak. Please don't stress as the stress and worry can have a negative effect on you at this time. I doubt that you did any harm to the baby just yet because he/she or she has not developed any organs or blood supply yet.. Just stay away from drinking and smoking until you know for sure that you are or are not pregnant. If it's only 8 days past ovulation, relax, try to limit strenuous activity, don't lift anything heavy take a pre-natal vitamin and wait another 6-7 days to test. testing before then, you may not have enough HCG to detect and you will stress yourself out too much. Stress is harmful, so think positive, relax and wait 1 more week to test again.
Good Luck!

Don't worry! If you are pregnant, as you will know, this is your first trimester. The most perceious state of development for your young. But it's not likely that because you drank alcohol or smoked marijuana that it's going to screw up, however, what you do need to make sure is that you do not binge drink. Binge Drinking is VERY dangerous. And in a couple of months, if you are pregnant, your doctor will do a couple of tests for fetal alcohol syndrome and such.. so you will know if anything is wrong with your baby. And as soon as you find out for sure that you are pregnant, stop. That's it. Don't feel bad, a lot of people have been in your shoes and now have beautiful, healthy babies! Don't feel bad, you didn't know! Look forward to the blessings!

It may have increased your chances somewhat, but you still would have a very good chance of carrying the baby to term. Until you know for sure, don't drink or smoke. Honestly, I know people go on and on about how bad it is for your baby, but there are only certain times during gestation that it can do serious damage. Since it's not clear when they are, obviously, don't drink or smoke. But if you just became pregnant, your chances of having seriously harmed the baby are slim.

Just stop drinking and smoking now. Start taking vitamins and eat well. This way if you are pregnant then you are giving your baby a great start, if you are not pregnant then you've stopped smoking and drinking and that's good for you. This way in the future when you do try to get pregnant you won't have the worries you're having now

I asked my doctor I am currently 15weeks and found out i was pregnant at 12weeks. And I participated in your activities as well. As far as smoking that gonja there is no scientific proof that this harms the baby. Alcohol usually in the first 12 weeks do not harm the baby too much. And she also said that pregos can drink wine moderately.

I am not going to lecture you.... alot of people out there like to go and have a good time but if you are pregnant that is definitely not what you want for your baby. I would wait 19 days from when you had that slip up and see if you are pregnant. Whatever you both decide please don't put anymore harmful substances in your body. It can cause serious risks to your unborn baby.....

First off you tiredness may just be from the excessive smoking and drinking and general partying. As you get older, you don't spring back from a night out quite as quickly as you used to.
None the less, I was about 6 or 7 weeks (didn't know of course) when I went out drinking (some moonshine, no less) and partying. My girl turned out ok. Lots of people have partied hard before they knew they were pg and their kids turned out ok.

Don't worry about it. Sad to say I did the same thing before I found out I was pregnant with my son. I went through the first two months feeling like crap. If you are pregnant when you go to see the doctor tell them about this and don't lie! They have plenty of tests to do that will tell you how healthy your baby is. It's ok to be concerned just don't beat yourself up. As long as you have stopped this behavior you should be just fine. FYI my son is two now and healthy as can be.

If what you did before you knew you were pregnant (if you are) was likely to cause problems with children, an awful lot of us would be in the same boat and there'd be a lot of messed up kids running around. There aren't. I wouldn't worry.

If you are pregnant it will not do any serious harm or increased your chance of miscarrying. My mom smoked weed, and drank her entire pregnancies with 3 kids and all three of us come out fine. So don't worry about it, and it is too early to know if you are pregnant.
