My pap came back abnormal but not precancerous. Should I be concerned? What could this be? HPV virus was negative. I started my period hours after my exam. Could this have effected it?

it's common for pap's to come back abnormal, one main reason is the ppl reading them usually get paid by the item... they go throught them really quick. if you're worried, tell your doc, and if they think you have a reason to be they will have you come in for another. why are you afraid to ask your doctor about this? do you think it's a dumb question? cause it isn't. it's absolutely your right to ask your doctor questions, and to get a straight clear answer from them. if not, get another doctor.

No this did not effect it. Since you had an abnormal pap your next step should be a coposcopy and biopsy with a GYN doc. Call and ask about this as this is the next step when you have an abnormal pap. I have had 2 abnormals in my life time.

Yes, starting your period hours after the exam will affect the pap test. I would suggest repeating the test about 2 weeks after your cycle ends.
Don't spend too much time worrying about it.

well it could be alot, i had precancerous cells on my overies they froze them off and i was fine. it could be a std it could be a couple things, if it was really serious they would have told you something right away. call them back and tell them you would like to know more info.

i doubt it--- there are about 4 or 5 levels, of course talk to your doctor, call him.

my sister had that but shes fine the took them off and she fine. dont worry
