My wife had insane HGC levels like that in excess of 400. 9 months later we had twins...a boy and a girl.

Here is a site that has a chart with normal beta averages and the lowest and highest beta numbers reported thathave led to viable pregnancies: http://www.betabase.info/showBasicChart.php?type=Single

Basically, if you are 6 weeks, that is 28 days past ovulation, and BetaBase says the average reading for 28dpo is 11,988. That means one of two things:
1) You ovulated later than you thought. If this cycle is longer than average, you could be a lot fewer dpo and your prenancy may be completely normal. Unfortunately, the only way you can know this is you were tracking ovulation. Basing it in LMP is not goin to be very accurate.
2) You may be experiencing a non-viable pregnancy. If you are 6 weeks along, this is a VERY low number and 99% of the time it would lead to miscarriage.

The best option at this point is an ultrasound. At 6 weeks, a sac and fetal pole should be visible, so your doctor can tell if it is a chemical pregnancy or if it is just a late implanter.

I hope the numbers are off (which is pretty common) and that you get great news at your first u/s!

Click the link below it has a table at the bottom of the page of what your HCG levels should be by now! Your number should be in the thousands so if it doubles in two days you will be 870 and two days after that it should be 1740 that would be the perfect range for 6 weeks don't worry yet the main thing is that your numbers double if they don't double or drop then they may want to give an ultra sound to check for a heartbeat HCG of 1500 or higher should have a baby w/ a beating heart you have time for those number to go up i wouldn't worry just yet good luck!

Well, I don't know about a single number. When I was pregnant, it was the doubling that was most important. Mine was not quite doubling and I had to take progesterone suppositories until I was 12 weeks. I know it's hard, but hang in there until you get the results of tomorrow's test. Waiting sucks, but sometimes it's all you can do!

It's very possible you aren't as far along as you think. With irregular periods things tend to get a little wonky with gestational age. They'll probably do an ultrasound (vaginal) to get a better idea of gestational age. But, right now the MOST important thing is that your numbers are doubling!!

Since you said your periods are irregular, its possible you're not as far as you think you are. Wait it out for the next blood test hun. Best of luck.

P.S. you idiots that keep saying "it's twins" can stay out of the pregnancy section if you don't have anything useful to add.

my levels were low with my first son but i dont know the exact amount....they told me I may lose him and I had my levels tested every 3 days but i started rubbing a progesterone cream on my belly and they came up and I delivered a healthy baby boy at 38 weeks gestation...my sister had the same problem and she had to use progesterone vaginal suppositories and her son was fine as well.....

You may be further along than you think. Or you might want to consider buying two of everything because you might be having twins!!!
